The 909 Project, mainly undertaken by Shanghai Huahong NEC Electronics Co., Ltd. (Huahong NEC), has built China’s first 8-inch deep submicron VLSI production line.

Boosting two 8-inch fabs with a capacity of 86,000 wafers per month, Huahong NEC provides customers at home and abroad with IC manufacturing services that cover 0.35-0.13 micron processes. Huahong NEC has achieved an industry-leading level in such processes/products as embedded non-volatile memory (eNVM), 0.13-micron BCD, SiGe BiCMOS and discrete devices etc. Besides, Huahong NEC offers customers a full range of around-the-clock services, including a variety of technical supports, cell libraries and IP, layout verification, wafer processing, wafer testing, reliability testing and failure analysis. In addition, Huahong NEC has teamed up with its partners to provide customers with one-stop services including mask manufacturing, packaging and testing.

Huahong NEC has passed the ISO9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO14001 for Environmental Management Systems, ISO27001 for Information Security Management Systems and OHSAS18001 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, and has met compliance with ISO/TS16949 Quality Management Systems for automotive production and relevant service part organizations.

Early in 2010, based on the successful operation of the 909 Project – 8-inch deep submicron VLSI production line, the 909 Project Upgrading was further launched by Shanghai Huali Microelectronics. In the upgrading project, the first state-owned holding 300mm IC production line would be built with a monthly capacity of 35,000 wafers at 90-65-45-nm technology nodes, targeting at domestic markets.
